The Power of Prevention: Exploring Power Mobility & Positioning in Preventative Care

Power Mobility is pleased to present this informative wheelchair training workshop in partnership with Quantum Rehab – The Power of Prevention: Exploring Power Mobility & Positioning in Preventative Care.

This workshop empowers therapists with vital skills to proactively mitigate pressure injuries in wheelchair users using Power Seat Functions. We will explore the pivotal role of power mobility and strategic positioning in preventative care, and how this can be utilised in NDIS reporting and clinical reasoning.

The session will cover the following key topics:

  • Overview of fundamental seating principles
  • What is a pressure injury and how do they form?
  • Review of areas of presentation related to positioning, skin integrity, joint alignment and additional systematic functions
  • Review on Immersion & Envelopment
  • The role of power mobility and positioning in preventative care
  • Demonstration and discussion on who is appropriate for electric power seating features and use.

Who is this session suitable for?

This session is suitable for intermediate to advanced prescribing therapists who would like to learn more about power mobility and positioning in preventative care. Every hour is counted for CPD for Allied Health, and all attendees will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Meet Joshua Chiswell, Clinical Educator & Product Specialist – Quantum Australia

Join the Power Mobility team as we welcome Joshua Chiswell to present this workshop.

Josh is a highly experienced occupational therapist with a background in inpatient rehabilitation and community settings, where he built a strong clinical foundation and a passion for delivering meaningful, client-centred outcomes. It was here that Josh discovered his interest in assistive technology and the powerful impact the right wheelchair and seating solutions can have on people’s lives.

He spent 6 years as a complex wheelchair and seating specialist, working with individuals with complex needs and collaborating closely with families and mulit-disciplinary teams. Known for his practical approach, Josh excels at turning clinical knowledge into real world solutions that support independence and long-term outcomes.

Josh is passionate about helping clinicians build confidence in assistive technology. He creates engaging, practical learning experiences that strengthen clinical reasoning and empower therapists to take ownership of their knowledge in the wheelchair and seating space.
