Introduction to MAT Evaluation

Get ready Hervey Bay therapists! Power Mobility is pleased to present our most popular wheelchair education workshop – Intro to MAT Evaluation.

Successful wheelchair prescription is a journey of marrying the interview assessment outcomes with the manual ‘roll-up your sleeves’ clinical exploration that comes from diving deeper with wheelchair specific assessment processes. One such assessment is the Mechanical Assessment Tool (MAT). Therapists are often asked for the completed MAT assessment as part of their clinical justification for complex AT prescription. Are you confident in knowing the where, when, why and how of the MAT evaluation process?

Join us for a half day introduction to the MAT, exploring hands-on assessment techniques to map skeletal landmarks, interpreting joint range of motion and the impact of high and low muscle tone on seated postures and functional patterns. Learn how the outcomes of the MAT will assist with evaluating postural alignment for the intervention of supportive seating systems and 24 hour postural management plans.
