Introduction to Power Wheelchairs

Power Mobility is pleased to present this informative wheelchair training workshop in partnership with Quantum – Introduction to Power Wheelchairs.

Selecting the right powered wheelchair is essential for boosting independence and mobility in everyday life. However, with a multitude of options available, navigating the decision-making process can be challenging and at times, overwhelming. This training aims to help therapists gain skills to select the optimal power wheelchair base, aligning choices with individual goals, environmental needs and driving comfort. Understanding the significance of a well-matched power base, therapists enhance mobility solutions, meeting practical requirements while resonating with each participant’s unique aspirations.

During this session, we will also be covering the range of Quantum Power Wheelchairs and how the new Quantum TB4 can improve independence with anterior tilt.

Key learning areas will include:

  • Introduction to the assessment & referral process
  • Power seat functions in power wheelchairs
  • Quantum TB4 & Anterior Tilt
  • Drive wheel configuration & its impact on manoeuvrability
  • Advantages & disadvantages of Front Wheel Drive, Mid Wheel Drive & Rear Wheel Drive
  • Suspension & why it’s important
  • Clinical considerations when the correct power wheelchair is chosen
